1st4sport Level 2 Award in Instructing Cycle Training

Cycle instructing is an exciting, challenging and immensely rewarding job. Our Level 2 course is a four-day programme which gives the best training in how to teach children and adults to the National Standard for Cycle Training. The course is a mixture of classroom sessions and outdoor practicals, covering all of the subjects and skills you will need to become a inspiring National Standard Cycle Instructor.

"Just a note to say thank you for the brilliant course last week. It was jam packed with useful theory sessions and practical work and I have learned a tremendous amount about delivering Bikeability which I hope I will now be able to put into practice. I thoroughly enjoyed the way you delivered the course and would thoroughly recommend it" - Lincolnshire Instructor who attended an Instructor Course

We are happy to run courses for Local Authorities and Bikeability schemes as well as individuals. CPD Courses including Bikeability Plus

Our range of Continuing Professional Development (CPD) courses refresh and develop knowledge of key areas of the National Standard. They are targeted at both new and seasoned instructors and are a great option for Bikeability schemes who want to create an excellent team, develop reflective instructors and improve delivery quality.

We work closely with many local authorities and Bikeability schemes, providing initial instructor training, CPD courses and advice. If you run a Bikeability scheme, why not partner with us and see how we can develop the quality of your scheme. For more information on our CPD courses please visit our web page or please get in touch.

NSID Train the Trainer for SUD Cycle Trainers

Do you want to build understanding, create positive relationships and improve the experience of commuting for all road users?

We offer a FORS approved Train the Trainer course to equip fully qualified National Standard Instructors (NSIQs) with the skills to deliver effective and educational SUD courses. The course covers:

  • Managing challenging behaviour and building positive relationships

  • The publications and schemes supporting freight in London

  • Conducting theory and practical training sessions

We offer courses which NSIQs can book onto and we are happy to arrange courses specifically for Bikeability schemes. For more information and to book, please get in touch

Post Course Assessments

Following the successful completion of our NSI course, newly qualified instructors are offered ongoing support and advice, culminating in their Post Course Assessments (PCAs). Our assessors are Department for Transport accredited National Standard Instructor Trainers (NSITs), who provide full and thorough feedback to trainee instructors as well as a full written report of the PCA.

We design our PCAs to be positive learning experiences, identify what instructors are doing well whilst promoting reflective learning to ensure instructors are equipped with the skills to continuously improve their instructing.  Each PCA costs £95 per person plus mileage. Discounts are available for multiple PCAs on the same day (one instructor per session). Please get in touch for more information.

The staff at Outspoken Training are friendly, knowledgeable and easy to work with. Their flexibility and willingness to tailor training to our particular needs is a real plus point. Our needs as a scheme are always taken into account when training is being developed whilst the National Standards remain the focus point for all work.
