Schools
Children love to cycle. Being able to ride a bike offers transport, independence and increased confidence and contributes to physical and emotional well-being. Bikeability helps children to “cycle more, more safely, more often”, with particular focus on increasing the number of journeys to school made by bike.
Bikeability training is ideal for delivery in schools, either inside or outside curriculum time. It has been described as “the cycling proficiency for the 21st century” because it gives parents and teachers the peace of mind that a child has received formal training before cycling independently on the road. On achieving the scheme outcomes, children receive a nationally-recognised qualification, approved by the Department for Transport.
Outspoken provides cycle training to schools in Cambridgeshire, Huntingdonshire, Suffolk and Bedfordshire, funded by Local Authorities and School Sports Partnerships. We also provide instructor training for Lincolnshire County Council. We welcome enquiries about cycle training and instructor training from other Local Authorities in the region.
In addition we design bespoke cycle training courses for schools. These courses provide extra training to develop skills, experience and confidence. Schools interested should contact us directly to arrange a course.
